To demonstrate their understanding and further explore organelle function they are drawing either a plant or an animal cell and providing a definition and function of each of the organelles found in the specific cell type.

Who touched Mr. Hannigan’s beaker? One teacher out of 6 suspects left 5 fingerprints on one of Mr. Hannigan’s glass beakers. Students in forensics were tasked with dusting and lifting the fingerprints from the beaker, and fingerprinting the 6 teacher suspects to determine which one left the fingerprints.

Two of our KMHS students ((both sophomores, both sopranos) have the distinguished honor of being nominated for All Aroostook Chorus and they are both auditioning for All State Chorus next week. Both of these talented students also sing in our school choir, 7+1 Modern Band, and their church choirs. If you see them in the halls, make sure to congratulate this amazing accomplishment!

Students in forensics are studying fingerprints and how they can be used to link a suspect to a crime. Fingerprints can be split into 3 major categories: loops, whorls, and arches. Once categorized forensic scientists need to analyze minutiae, small fingerprint details, to decide who the fingerprint belongs to specifically. Students used a document camera/interactive white board to look for specific minutiae in their own fingerprints. They also used a balloon to inflate their fingerprints to create larger minutiae detail.

Staff at KMHS spent the Friday afternoon learning social emotional and self care strategies to add to their tool box of skills. Gary Crocker, from West Gardiner Maine, spent time sharing stories, making up facts and creating belly laughter from everyone! He ended his message with two take aways - staff have no idea the impact they make on students everyday and be kind even when it seems ok to stand your ground. Thanks to everyone who generously donated to the Donors Choose grant that supported this event. Shelley
